FS:Rosewill SilentNight/Kingwin STR-500 PSU, Scythe Tatsumi

Update: Rosewill PSU sold Hi guys. Haven't been around here in awhile but I recently changed my system around and have these parts that I'm looking to sell. First is a Rosewill SilentNight 500W PSU. These are rebadged Kingwin STR-500s, both of which have been reviewed by the SPCR team and are great ...

Re: DAN A4-SFX

Also, if you wanted something a bit more elegant for the CPU fan shroud, you could buy a cheap fan, cut out the actual fan, and use the shroud to seal it to the side panel. Maybe throw in some form of a rubber or foam gasket in there too.

Re: DAN A4-SFX

Cool to see an A4 here. I've been eyeing it but I've been a bit put off by the CPU cooler options and price/availability.

Do you need 1.2v for stability? My 4670k can do 4200mhz at 1.050v which would help reduce temps and noise even more. Might even help with the SF450 fan noise a bit.

Re: SFX power supplies?

Would like to see this, as well; even if they just tested the noise levels. I only need ~200W but I'm still using my Rosewill SilentNight because I've not read good things about these new higher power SFX PSUs.

Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread

Did you have any trouble fitting it in? I actually had to remove the fan shroud to get it in into the PCIe slot. Luckily, it just clips on with two tabs on each end. Otherwise I would have been screwed. Are you using NVMe drives btw? Can't see any 2,5" drives. My case only has one detachable suppor...

Oh, that is interesting. I had the 960 one and it was pretty good. I remember it running around 1100rpm and 70c at full load.

Looked nice with the backplate and fit in my U2, as well.

Re: Monitor Questions

The BenQ GW2765HT sounds like a good option for you. It's 27", 1440p, 60hz, IPS, 10-bit (8-bit with dithering), no PWM dimming on the back light, good color accuracy and contrast, VESA mount, decent build quality, and a 3 year warranty. It doesn't have USB ports though if that's something you wanted...

Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread

I just installed the twin turbo III in my ncase and works perfectly. I will have to do some more testing but temps and noise is way down. It is a tight fit though and I will have find some way of connecting the usb 3.0 header again. RAM clearance could also potentially pose a problem. Oh, my bad, I...

So I was bored and did a quick mock-up in Photoshop with the Arctic Mono and EVGA SC/Founders Edition PCB which I've attached below. I scaled them to size and it looks like it will fit as I described in my last post. You might to have to trim the fins on the PCI slot side and possibly around the DVI...

Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread

Well using a standard 25mm fan seems to be a bust. With an NF-A9 it was running at 83c and 1600rpm and it was actually louder than the stock fan. I think this is likely because there's only about 3mm between the bottom of the Rosewill U2 with a 25mm fan which you can see here , the shroud on the NF...

Re: My Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut TIM Test

That is on a CPU with a heat spreader and an aftermarket cooler with a backplate so likely a higher mounting pressure. Those are also much lower load temperatures - I wonder if that would make a difference. Albeit a bit skeptical, I'm also very curious about the mounting pressure. OTOH I'm more ske...

I also removed the foam from underneath the fan and I didn't notice a significant increase in noise. Maybe at 1600+ RPM there's a slight increase in resonance and low frequency humming.

I think I'm going to have to fit a 25mm fan on it. Can't you tie the case fans to the GPU temp (instead of CPU one)? Not the GPU, from what I can remember. Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread

No problem. Glad to help. :) That's too bad on the pricing. In the US the MSI Gaming 1060 is only 20usd more than the EVGA ACX which is pretty reasonable. I tried CSGO today and that didn't go as well as GTA V did. Because it's less CPU intensive, the CPU doesn't heat up, and therefore the case fans...

Thanks, lalib. That sounds pretty good. It's more like a really light scraping and it's constant - from the ball-bearing fans I've heard, at least. Good knews on the EVGA SC. MSI Gaming X 1060 Messing around with MSI Afterburner looks like it won't let me go below 25% which is 625 RPM by default. Of course the fans completely stop below 60C. Playing around with it further I set it to 21% fan speed = 520sih RPM, fluctuates by about 10RPM, dunno if this is normal. Below 2...
