Most Preferred PVR Software

Post by Kattmandu » Wed Dec 10, 2014 8:55 am

What PVR software do most HTPC builders use. I've been running Windows Media Center for the past 5 years but I'm wondering if there is something better out there to use. I'm looking to build a new HTPC and want to make all the right choices in not only the hardware but the software too.

I was afraid that was going to be the response. I'm really not that proficient at Linux. I've read nothing but good things about MythTV but I'm not sure I'm ready to jump into the world of Linux. I'd like to do some gaming on this build as well and I don't think all my Steam games will install on Linux.

I was very happy with MythTV until my cable company removed their unencrypted channels.

That's unfortunate! Personally, I would only be watching ATSC OAT TV.
