As far as I know *any* socket A can underclock a Palomino or Tbred.... These chips run at 133mhz FSB, so simply set the FSB to 100mHz at your clock speed is reduced 33% ... so you could easily run a 1700+ T-bred at 1gHz..

A more important thing, regarding heat, is that you use the lowesst stable voltage possible... for a t-bred, this is probably going to be ~1.3... this guy reached 1.1, but I don't think that's typical.


you can probably still run the memory at pc2100 speeds, but it depends on the board... there are 2 ways:

1) see if the board supports async memory/FSB operation (most do) this will allow you to set memory speed to 133 while cpu runs at 100 FSB

2) If you can't get it to run at 133(ddr 266), run it at 100(ddr 200) and set CAS latency to the lowest possible setting.
