From the article:
"The Blue is a bit more impressive in this regard as WD managed to pack 1TB into a standard 9.5 mm thick casing. Only one other drive can boast that, the MQ01ABD from Toshiba; All previous 1TB laptop models required an extra platter pushing the height to 12.5 mm [...]. "

What about the Samsung Spinpoint M8 1TB?

Yes, the Samsung M8 HN-M101MBB 1TB drive was generally available before WD's 9.5mm drive was out. I have one and it's been fine and quiet.

Just posted to say the same thing: the Samsung M8 HN-M101MBB has been available for quite a while longer than the WD and Toshiba.

The article needs to be corrected. For the future, refer to the platter capacity DB posted here: http://rml527.blogspot.com/ (you can then just do a net search to see the availability in stores)

This is a bit disappointing, since I was planning to swap my WD Green+SQD to 1TB Scorpio Blue+dual SQDs.

I wonder if Samsung notebook drives offer fairly silent seeks and are free of that annoying platter calibration noise?
