Using self adhesive floor tile in case?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Using self adhesive floor tile in case?

Post by frosty » Tue Jun 24, 2003 1:35 pm

I heard locally about a young lad who put some leftover floor tile that is the self adhesive kind all over inside the case of his PIII and claimed it made a huge difference! Apparently he claimed the floor tile has the composite qualities of tar paper and minerals and asphalt that helps absorb sound.

Anyone ever heard of this?

Sure sounds dirt cheap to do this way cept maybe for odor?

This doesn't sound like a very good idea (not because of odor)

While the tile may provide some vibrational dampening (just due to added mass) - the only real effect would be a HEAVY computer.
