Carbide 600Q, 400Q, Deep Silence 4 and Define R5

Post by gPerboni » Sat Aug 13, 2016 1:26 pm

Hi!

I'm deciding on a case and your help will be, once again, much appreciated.

The parts:
- CPU: Core I7 6700 (it may be changed to I5)
- CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15
- PSU: Corsair RM550
- MoBo: Something from Asus, probably Z150M Plus, but open for ideas
- Graphics: None (fot eh moment)
- SSD: Samsung 850 EVO

Consider:
- I live in Brazil, so the options are limited to what I can find over here or import via Amazon
- Silence is my number one concern
- I don't care for gaming, maybe some Minecraft here and there
- This PC will be used mainly for mixing and mastering audio.
- The smaller, the best!

Considering the info above, what do you can tell me about the following cases:
- Corsair Carbide 400Q
- Corsair Carbide 600Q
- Fractal Design Define R5
- Anoxia Deep Silence 4

I've read the reviews on SPCR and a lot of others, but I believe that personal experience (which I don't have) is more important than raw info.

Thanks!

I have no direct experience with the cases you considering, i did build on R4 and was pretty good, cable management was great and easy to do, space inside the case is good and easy to work with, the case does weight some and specially the side panels with the bitumen, but its a nice overall case, a little on the big side, so will be the R5, now with your statement about
The smaller, the best!
You probably should consider mini itx or micro atx cases to fulfill your smaller desires, Silverstone, Fractal Design, Lian Li, Corsair, Phoenix, Antec, have good smal factor cases.

All in all IMO the Fractal R5 (or the S if conveniently priced) looks like the best option: for smaller/different footprint consider their Define Mini, Define Nano, Node 804, Core 500, Node 304 (if available).

BTW, with a Core i5/IGP only, you can squeeze the dimensions quite a lot more (than the smallest mini tower).

I have the 5 and it's really large, so if you're going small, that's the only real disadvantage
