The T-Balancer comes with software which *may* allow for logging (not sure).

Expensive and hard to find, though :(

Where should I put the temperature probe in order to have an ambient reading?

Outside the case or just very close to the intake. It's basically room temperature.
In a computing context, ambient temperature is the air temperature of any environment where computers and related equipment are kept.

The probe must be suspended in the air to have accurate readings ?

The air changes temperature faster than the metal surrounding it. And right now the temperature of the metal in my case in the lower front is a couple degrees higher than the table it sits on. I can't measure air temp with an IR thermometer.
