slowing fans while in stanby - need help

Post by Confused Chimp » Sun Mar 18, 2007 5:22 pm

hi all.
I thought some of you may be able to help.
I'm running my desktop system all the time and have schedule tasks that its wakes itself up to do if its in standby. but when its in stanby all the fans keep going at the same speed.
Relavent hardware is Asus A8N sli 32 deluxe and antec P180 case.
Is there anyway that i can make them stop or slow down when its in standby.
its supports cool n quiet and aua q-fan.
cheers

I have that MB at another location (my dads house) so I can't see the setup to tell you where it is but I'd start by looking for S1 vs S3 in the standby configuration.

The DFI I'm using currently stops all fans and drives completely when it goes into standby.

Then again maybe it isn't the MB or the BIOS. What OS are you using? I'm using XP SP2 on both of my systems...

S3 (STR) standby mode will turn off all fans and most of the computer when going into standby. S1 (POS) standby mode keeps the fans running. Sometimes certain motherboards have trouble with it, but that's basically the jist of it.
