Need Help Selecting Fans for Corsair D550

Post by mr00000 » Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:45 pm

Hello all,

Just registered here, but have done a little bit of reading on SPCR throughout the years. I'm working on slowly building a new system based on a Corsair D550 (waiting for Ivy Bridge and Nvidia 6xx stuff). While it is a performance-focused build and I want it to support overclocking, I want to do so while keeping it as quiet as possible with a positive pressure setup. I'm having the hardest time selecting fans. When I finally think I've found one that fits the bill, I'll stumble across a review that makes me not like it. So, I'm looking for some input from you guys.

Priorities:
Enough CFM to support overclocking
Quiet
No / Low Modification (Want to avoid modding the case or using a fan controller)
Price (I don't know how I feel about fans that cost more than $15, willing to consider if there's a big difference)

Configuration:
HSF: Noctua NH-D14
Front Fans (2x 120mm): Filtered intake, need suggestions
Bottom Fan (1x 120mm OR 140mm): Filtered intake, need suggestions
Rear Fan (1x 120mm OR 140mm): Exhaust, need suggestions
Top Fans (2x 120mm OR 140mm): Filtered intake, need suggestions

Note: Currently thinking about doing the top 2 fans as intake to enforce positive pressure and also get some airflow directly to CPU / RAM. Let me know if this is a terrible idea.

Thanks for your suggestions,

Mr00000
