I am trying to build this pc (not my first build by any means) with the intention of making it very quiet. However, with this in mind I would like it to be upgradeable, as well as cheap. I play one game, Counter Strike : GO. I am not looking for a gaming monster but I have read that the AMD CPU/GPU has been able to run games decently.

Any changes you would make to this build? Any recommendations? Will this run as quiet as I am hoping, which is very very quiet. Idle being like you can't hear it at all.

parts not listed (mouse, monitor) already have so are not "missing."

Thanks,

Ryan

Welcome to SPCR.

CS:GO isn't that demanding of a game. Your monitor resolution and image quality level will determine how much horsepower you need for graphics.

If you plan for this to be an upgradable PC, I'd lean toward an Intel build. For gaming, a dual core Pentium is as good as the best AMD CPU. Here's an alternate budget build that will beat the pants off of yours. It needs to be finessed a bit (need to reslove the gfx card and add an ODD).

For the love of everything holy, don't buy refurbished electronics.

Thanks for the reply. My research told me using a atx board was better for quieting the pc because thevairflow in the case would be better.

I like the build you posted, I'm just curious as to if would quiet and more quiet than the build I posted. Also why?

Why quieter:
- Your PSU is just a generic supply. Mine's Gold efficiency and reviewed to be fairly quiet.
- case: there's an Anandtech review on the Bit Fenix case.
- ATX or mATX. Doesn't really matter. Look for features, build quality, price.
- HDD: Seagate drives aren't as quiet as WD...and if you have an SSD, you probably don't need a 7200 rpm HDD. A decent 5400rpm drive will be much quieter.
- cooler: The Gelid Tranquilo is quiet..don't know about the Shero. The 212 Evo is known to be pretty quiet.
- gfx card: I didn't do a deep dive. However, Asus in general makes quiet gfx cards. Adding this card will be noisier than using the integrated graphics, but then again, either you need the fps or you don't.

I would just to point out that the Gelid Slim Hero is a sub-par cooler, it could be a viable choice just for cramped space, while I won't bet that specific ASUS card were enough quiet, and for that price it is a tad difficult to find something which is quiet and fast at the same time (the cheapest option could be the Sapphire Ultimate 7750, about 20 USD more from TigerDirect after MIR, while fanned relatively quiet cards goes for at least 130-150 USD).

Last but not least, about the proposed partpicker setup, maybe an Intel G3420 should be a better pick than the G3430 (-20% in price, about the same performance).
