Mac/Windows networking

Post by NeilBlanchard » Wed Dec 13, 2006 6:58 am

Greetings,

I am assisting someone who has a new Mac laptop, and while it is able to share printers and files on the local LAN, it seems to be stuck on having the workgroup name being "WORKGROUP" -- can this be changed, and if so, how?

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107137

Essentially, start "Directory Access" located in /applications/utilities.

Click the lock icon, select SMB/CIFS and click Configure.

Thank you! I really hoped that it was possible -- and hopefully Apple's tech support gets the info into their database, too! :o I called them yesterday, and was told I would have to change the Windows machines...
