Do I need a zalman on my 7200 radeon ati vid card?

They make noise, too.

Do I need a zalman on my 7200 radeon ati vid card?

Post by frosty » Fri Jul 25, 2003 1:09 pm

Ready to buy a 25.00 zalman for my vid card but do I need to?

Can I just run it without a fan or just a homemade mounted panaflo?

Light gamining Q3 and ms word is all - not even web stuff.

I have pretty good air blowing by it from front case panflo at 7v with open plenum and cutout brackets.

Any help here is preciated adn prethanks to you all.

???????????

Dude, a 7200 doesn't get that hot.

I just have a Steath on a Zalman bracket on my 7500 because it's now OC'ed to 310Mhz Core and 375Mhz RAM.

via radeonator software

Danx Polist - you saved me 25.00 bucks - and the roads here get very very little salt and gravel for that matter. :D

BTW I have 4 vdub beetles in storage, very poor storage, 2 topless needing lots of restoration and two hard tops and two extra engines sitting around, so someday that van will be a dream come true with plenty of extra motors.

I ran my 7200 with the fan unplugged without any problems (just sold it).

You'll be fine.

Thanks I love NY!

Will unplug her tonight!

And just ordered a 60 to 80 mm fan adaptor and one panaflo 80l and one 80m to mount over the hs. The 80m is just in case the 80l does not get my temps low enough. I am on my way now thanks again!

How about California...:)

I have a couple of 7500s and a 7200 and they come right from ATI without a fan, they're cooled passively. I don't know why some show up with fans and some don't but you should be just fime w/o a fan on that card. You could always suspend a 5V L1A Panaflo above it if you were worried. No noise and plenty of cooling airflow for the card.

Thanks Ralf,

Oh yes Sunny CA. - well ahem, I only visited CA in the northern end, redwoods in the north and WOW and you know the people there were some of the nicest I ever met.

Also my fav team yrs ago was UCLA and I still think when the Raiders played all their games on the road that year they were without a home and still won the Super Bowl, they were prolly the best team ever.

I don't know why ATI put the fan on the 7200 either at another forum someone was just aghast that I removed the fan and ran it - been running it like that and it seems fine, plus I have no nic or modem cards or anything else so it gets a blow job right from the intake lower case fan so I think it is getting fairly cooled that way. I have one spare panaflo and may just put it over my upper mounted hard drive and rest easy about the 7200.

Thanks.
