It's been a few years since I've visited.

So there's a new shorter video card that will be a godsend for Mini ITX builders:

It won't be utterly silent but it MAY be quiet.

I can't see it being any quieter than some of the larger non-reference cooled designs. Generally to make a heatsink smaller means that the fan is going to have to work harder so I would expect in terms of silence this is a step backwards and I never personally find graphics cards quiet enough unless they're passive or use a slow turning 120mm.

I do like to see a nice compact design though and possibly this is ideal for certain circumstances. I do wonder if the cooler would be ripe for a fan swap for something that doesn't spin quite so fast...

Just FYI, this is actually the reference design nvidia initially released only with an aftermarket cooler. I thought I had read a review the other day including noise levels... let me see...

Edit: Found'm

Edit 2: Hadn't noticed the weird fan before... would be nice to see those in a direccuii.

The one change I can see from the reference design is it uses 1x 8-pin PCI-E as opposed to 2x 6-pin. This is probably a good thing as modern PSUs all have8-pin connectors and still gives more than enough headroom.

linky a fresh review

a pity they didn't at least measure RPM - it could just give us a hint of what to expect (not that I'd care to read non-SPCR dB measurement :P )
I mean, c'mon, at least make a screen shot of what GPU-Z shows in the sensors tab, please?
