Only 57W max in Crysis 2 and 66W in Furmark. Beats all other competitors in performance / watt by a large margin.
Overall game performance is close to a Radeon 7850. This could be cooled passively with the Accelero S1 plus (if it fits).

Incredibly efficient and low power, and yet it has enough performance to run heavy 3D games at decent (or even good) levels of detail. Think we have a bit of a pinnacle on our hands now.

Very pretty power profiles. TPU's performance per watt graph @ 1080p is an eye opener.

An interesting line from Guru3D's MSI GTX 750 Ti Gaming review:
The idle results are brilliant, the fan will even turn itself off when the GPU idles.

This is a ground-shattering achievement by Nvidia, all the more because the additional enhancement to be brought about by 20nm has not even materialized. I have long been thinking that 100W-200W TDP is utterly too much for casual-gamers with keen interest in quiet PC. Unfortunately, this unprecedented power-efficiency may give rise to the demise of aftermarket coolers.

Speaking of coolers, a passive version should just be a matter of time... right? I may be forced to upgrade from my 650 Ti if one materialises. 8)

Very nice indeed, I would be curious to see the possibilies. Can the fan be turned off manually? Turned down to low RPM? When does the fan restarts? (Blu-Ray...)

All things that should probably wait for SPCR user reviews

Does these mean it's possible to make a good gaming machine run on a picopsu?

In terms of the total power envelope it looks doable. 70-ish watts for the card leaves some 80-90 W for the rest of the system, if we're talking the biggest "plug PSU", the picoPSU-160-XT. Surely a non-overclocked Haswell i5 could fit in there - a T or S model definitely.

The 750 Ti doesn't require a PCI Express lead either, but there might be some requirement like amperage that's easy to overlook when just staring at power figures. The Wikipedia article on PCI Express states that "[full-size x16 cards] can use up to 75 W (3.3 V/3 A + 12 V/5.5 A)". The 160-XT can provide 8 A maximum load on the 12 V lline and 8 A for 3.3 V and 5 V combined, according to its manual.

Looks doable (from a purely power perspective)!

The MSI version seems to stand out noise-wise: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gef ... 50-19.html

I wonder how well will perform Asus and Gigabyte.

This card would be a very good candidate...

I suppose a simple Accelero S1 Plus can always be used in the mean time. I'm just wondering about the warranty. A graphic card is usually covered by a 3 year warranty here (France), and I'm not sure which brand of card would be the best choice to avoid voiding the warranty by removing the heat sink.

I ordered a R9 270 SCS3 a few days ago but I would prefer this 750 Ti with a passive heat sink if I can keep the warranty! :)

EDIT: Yeah, I'm probably going to cancel/send back the R9 270 and wait for an EVGA 750 Ti, 3 years warranty and known to accept RMA as long as the stock cooler is mounted back.

The TechPowerUp review of the MSI GTX 750 Ti Gaming 2 GB is out, as the previous versions of the gaming series, seems to be a quiet card, with remarks like,
Wow! I'm speechless. I think MSI's GeForce GTX 750 Ti Gaming is the quietest graphics card that I ever reviewed. In a quiet room, with all noise sources removed and the card running in a passively cooled system, you can barely make out the fan's noise if you stand a step away from the card.

During gaming the fan speed increases ever so slightly to keep the card cool, but it's still nearly inaudible.

I think it's the quietest graphics card that I ever reviewed. In both idle and during gaming, it emits around 24 dBA which is so quiet that the card should be considered noiseless for all intents and purposes. Not only is the card quiet, but thanks to the big cooler, it also runs very cool. Great job here, MSI.
I really wished, SPCR could get a sample... would be nice to see it on the chamber.

Maybe, noise wise, it's more rational buying the cheapest one available, and then slap an Accelero S1 Plus on it.

While i dont disagree with you, i dont think its for everybody, voiding warranties, having sometimes coolers that dont fit 100%, etc, its something that not all do. Personally i love tinkering with my cards, i run accelero III atm on my 780, but its not that easy, i had to waste a good amount installing it, then it didnt work out with the PWM control of the nvidia refrerence card, so i had to use a 7v adapter, overall custom coolers for gpu are not that common, i feel a good include cooler would be worth it to me. On my next gpu i might wait for the MSI gaming version, and then slap a Prolimatech MK-26 with some vortex 140s.... will see this are just dreams....

It depends, EVGA for instance is known to allow third party coolers as long as the stock cooler can be reinstalled in its original condition: http://www.evga.com/support/warranty/

The product must be returned to EVGA in the original factory configuration and condition. All aftermarket modifications must be reversed before sending in the product for replacement.

I read that Arctic just started to replace the shitty glue (G1) that comes with the Accelero S1 Plus by a thermal permanent glue.
Good thing about the shitty glue is that parts can be removed easily. I mailed them about the new one to see if that'll also be possible (permanent doesn't sound too good ).

Otherwise, the EGVA FTW seems to have a big rad below its fans. I wonder if one or two low RPM fans wouldn't simply do the trick. Photos here: http://www.overclockers.com/evga-gtx-75 ... ard-review
That would avoid too much tinkering and keep it fairly simple (I might just try to go this way).

I also agree that the MSI looks perfect for an out-of-the-box solution.

This page has a list of manufacturers who will produce GTX 750 cards:
http://nvidianews.nvidia.com/Releases/N ... e-ab5.aspx

I went looking for the cards on the manufacturer's websites. I found:
http://www.galaxytech.com/__EN_GB__/Pro ... sPow=False
http://www.msi.com/product/vga/#?fp=GeF ... 0GTX%20750
http://www.palit.biz/palit/vgapro.php?id=2254
http://www3.pny.com/GTX-750-1024MB-PCIe-P3481C589.aspx
http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/lis ... 8@1@2,22#2
http://au.evga.com/products/prodlist.as ... et=GTX+750
http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=926&lang=en
(some of those are links to GTX-750 cards, in which case the GTX-750 Ti will be nearby.)

For some manufacturers I found a page which should list the 750 cards but doesn't. Presumably they will launch a card but haven't yet.
http://www.asus.com/us/Graphics_Cards/N ... _Products/
http://en.colorful.cn/Product/Vga.aspx
http://www.inno3d.com/product/product_index_700.html
http://www.zotacusa.com/products/graphics-cards?cat=111

I'm hoping for a passively cooled card, but haven't found one yet. ASUS and Gigabyte both have some history with passive cards - maybe one of them will do it.

(Edited to move gigabyte, EVGA and Gainward into ''found cards' section..)

I think we will see one sooner or later, sparkle also did the GTS450 that i run on HTPC pretty good card, but this card is very viable for small upgrade, really hopping we see a fanless version too.

Btw the first starting to show up, seems its going to hit retail around $170, Gigabyte GTX 750 Ti GDDR5-2GB 2xDVI/2xHDMI OC Graphics Cards GV-N75TOC-2GI

PS i think Steve should start a thread like the compilation of the GTX760 with all the reviews, this card seems like its going to be a very used here on SPCR. 2nd PS, hoping SPCR gets some samples, this is very viable series for quiet gaming.

I am definitely in the same boat. I am too busy, too old, and too cranky at this point to go swapping out coolers willy-nilly when I can just pay for a good default one with my hard-earned cash (earning which keeps me busy in the first place). I am also not particular to thermal glues that are a pain in the backside to correct or remove, and all Arctic Cooling aftermarket coolers seem to favour these.

PS. Donation post is now up to get an SPCR review underway: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=67144

I think I can surely resist this temptation. At the same time, it strikes me that they are likely to postpone 20nm graphics cards in order not to cannibalise themselves, which is a bad news. I don't think I will be able to resist what they can deliver with 20nm.

The 20 nm low-power card will definitely be doubly delayed now, as the 750 Ti was rather delayed in the first place. I doubt they will raise its performance much from these figures though, and with power consumption this low, I'm not sure how much difference they can make with -8 nm.

TSMC says up to 30%. That said, it's more likely Nvidia will just cram more transistors on a chip and the TDP will be similar to the current gen. 2015 brings 16nm FinFET, and thats where I'd expect another big round of power savings.

Companies definitely seem avid at negating any gains achieved by diluting efficiency, be it via hardware or software.

30 % does sound like a lot, but even if we got the full benefit, we're looking at desktop savings in the single digits and probably something like 15 W under hardcore 3D loads (like the Techpowerup Crysis 2/Average test, 52 W for the 750 Ti card tested). Maybe I don't understand yet just how efficient things can get... but I kinda like a bit of extra heat coming from the PC. Keeps my feet warm in wintertime!

Low profile and single slot i doubt it will happen, this is like AMD 5430 or nvidia gtx620, this is a mid end card, you will probably see either low profile or single slot, here is an example Galaxy GeForce GTX 750 Series Lineup has a Low-Profile Card

Finally a card I might actually be interested in buying. Biggest jump in performance per Watt since....

I'm a bit surpirsed for such a TDP that so many ABIs are delivering custom coolers. Perhaps this is an example of where lower noise thresholds are becoming more mainstream or if I'm being sceptical then all these coolers could all just be marketing hype! I'd only have one with a passive cooler on and the S1 Plus is only as expensive as the cost between different models of the same card.

Guru3D is saying the same thing about all the 750TI cards it tested (Gigabyte, Palit and MSI) including the Nvidia reference card. I hope this truly is a feature common to all 750TI card and not just a copy/paste error on Guru3D's part.

Yeah, I saw it on both the MSI and Palit reviews - but the Palit review line looked like a copy/paste error as it referred to the MSI card...

I actually finish building it, couldn't wait

Damn that EVGA is loud.

I tried without it, only with my Fractal Arc Midi R2 fans+Scythe Mugen 4 and it was almost inaudible in a quiet room (I'll probably replace case fans by 1 or 2 Scythe).

Then I added the EVGA, WOOOSH

Can't get the fans below 42% in EVGA Precision X, unfortunately, so I'll be replacing the fans by a low rpm one.

Dang... well, thanks for the warning. The only quiet EVGA I've ever heard fried on me, so I guess they're loud for a reason (because they suck at cooling :P).
