Do Dell Ultrasharps whine?

Getting really annoyed with my Asus monitor whining on text browser / PDF / Word etc applications. I have tried the "brightness mod" and no avail.

I have also been thinking of upgrading my monitor lately, I use my PC 8 hours a day sometimes more so it is quite important and the extra room would be nice.

Wondering if these are likely to whine? Thanks
