Interesting but I'm yet to be convinced. I've heard of metal foams before and it has come up on SPCR before over 10 years ago:

Here's some info on metal foams, basically a copper version of this forms the entire upper half of the case and acts as the heatsink:

The possibilities for it's effectiveness as a passive heatsink are very good. It's also impenetrable by dust and provides EM shielding. It could however also have terrible downsides, this might not be the most practical case design and not cheap either.

There also seem to have been some metal foam heatsinks shown off at CEBIT as far back as 2006:

So if they were being shown off as long ago as 2006, why didn't they take off? It makes you wonder if they really worked that well practically.
