Wierd colours on the boot screen.... Please help

Post by johnny5alv » Fri Aug 13, 2004 4:15 am

Hi

I'm not sure if I have a problem but my colours seem all wrong

I've just built this system -
----------------------------
CoolerMaster Wave Master
Abit IC7-Max-3
Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz 'Northwood' Retail
Corsair TwinX 1GB DDR XMS4000PT
Hitachi 160GB Deskstar 7200RPM ATA
2x Seagate Barracuda® V 7200RPM 120GB Serial ATA 150 8MB Cache
Point Of View GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB DDR3
Zalman ZM400B-APS 400W PSU
----------------------------

It's a new system with a formatted HDD (SATA drives not attached yet). So the screens I'm talking about are the boot picture and screens after that (text mostly).

The colour is like a garish pinky/red colour....Not white like you'd expect.

The video card has 2 wierd connections that require an adapter to hook up a normal monitor (one supplied). The manual isn't very clear as to which one to use for normal use (if it matters at all) I only tried one connection because I've ran out of time...I would have played about with it more but I have to go to work in a bit and I wanted to write this before I went.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks
Jon

That "weird" connection you mention is the DVI connector for attaching a digital LCD. The color problem is your DVI-to-VGA adaptor not fitting properly. Fiddle with it a little, things should become normal. I suggest you screw down the adaptor once you're done inside the 'puter.
