External Fan Filter and Fan screws
They have these External filters for about 400-500yen at this shop. It has a bracket that screws onto the case, with a filter that snaps over it.
How will this affect airflow? I figure and external filter is better then internal for easier cleaning.
Also I know most Cases have vent holes but What If I just cut out a big square and mount the filter over it? Will this add better ventilation or just allow more dust?
Also high of a Micron should filters be? I'd imagine too high would allow no airflow.
Also Filter+Case+Washers+Fan would take up more shank on the screw so is there a place that sells longer screws, or would the provided ones be long enough do you think?

That quite much depends what kind of material they use for filtering. For low pressure fans like Noctua's S12-series or Scythe Slipstreams might take bigger effect than high pressure fans like Nexus, S-flexes and such fans.
They always affect bit, question is do they affect too much for your liking. We generally talk 2-3 degree's deifference with or without filter, like with P182 with filters vs. without filters.

Yen to dollar changes between $.85=100yen to $.94=100yen on avg. Changes every day though and the ratio isn't the same everywhere.thejamppa wrote:That is good way to test it. 400-500 yens doesn't sound awfully big sumn of money.
Simple things like Fans are priced about the same as US products where major ones like cases and motherboards are different. A Storm Sniper may cost $150 on Newegg. Where a local shop sells it for 26,800 Yen

I didn't quote it wrong. I live in Japan and know the rate firsthand. My COLA is based off the exchange rate. Which varies all over Japan and is not 1 universal rate. Plus the rate changes everyday.jhhoffma wrote:Well I certainly wouldn't pay over $200 for any fan...
Here's the actual exchange rate (I think you wrote it wrong):
1 JPY = 0.0104181 USD
1 USD = 95.9865 JPY
Some places charge you $1=100yen and others are as low as $.84=100yen.
With yen if you stick a decimal point in front of the last 2 numbers you get a good estimate of how much it will cost in dollars ie 500 yen=$5.00 or 10,000 yen=$100.00
