How to overclock AMD cpu?
I have AMD FX-6350, six core black box edition, which is for overclocking.
So, I finally bought SCYTHE Big Shuriken 2 Rev. B for it, how do I overclock it to 4.2 MHz, from the current 3.8MHz?

Also, in BIOS I set the CPU fan to automatic, but I don't know how to set FAN speed.
There are 9 levels of it, currently it is on level 6, but I don't know what each level represents?

ASROCK 980DE3/U3S3 R2.0
Re: How to overclock AMD cpu?
It might be worth trying the Asrock OC Tuner software which covers both overclocking and fan control, and is a free download from their website.

But it is listed on the download page for your board, OC Tuner ver:2.4.97 under Utilities.

Re: How to overclock AMD cpu?
Why do you keep mentioning this, when there is AMD overdrive?

Isn't it obvious?

Re: How to overclock AMD cpu?
I switched to Skylake recently, but IIRC I OCed my FX-8120 by clicking on the "Turbo Core control" button and pushing the turbo limits. I managed 4,2GHz without overvolting and 4,5GHz with a little bit of OV. 4,2 was enough for me to get those extra frames in CPU heavy games.
You can then save the settings with the preferences button.
I remeber reading that hardware OCing was supposed to be better, but I never managed any useful result by trying to OC from the BIOS. I finally blamed it on the rather cheap mobo.
