Here is a nice thread (with further links) that anyone wanting to under-volt their notebook may be interesting in.

The cool thing is, you just close RMClock to disable the effect and get back full CPU power when needed.

I should add, the poster of the linked thread is claiming 24dC idle & 47dC full load running 24/7 :shock: :shock: :shock: Obviously that's with fan running- but keeping the fan off at semi-idle would be another application.
