EEEPC 1000H quiet?

More popular than ever, but some are still very noisy.

EEEPC 1000H quiet?

Post by Ch0z3n » Mon Dec 08, 2008 8:06 am

I haven't noticed a great deal of discussion on netbooks, at least recently. My dad is getting me an EEEPC 1000H for christmas and I was just wondering if it was quiet or at least a decent netbook. Can I control the fan(s) with like SpeedFan or something? What about voltage and frequency of the processor?

The fan is pretty audible.

A program called Eeectl can control the clockspeed, backlight, and fan speed. It becomes unstable around 2.1GHz or so--before that with some memory sticks. ASUS has their own application that gives a few settings for clockspeed. The processor isn't the main power consumer or heat producer--that would be the 945GSE northbridge. The machine is a lap warmer.

I have a post here about the power draw.
