More popular than ever, but some are still very noisy.

Amd Fusion Netbooks and Notebooks

Post by andyb » Wed Jan 12, 2011 11:02 am

Arriving soon.

Simply Google this Acer Part number and you will find many listings for this product.

LX.RD502.005

Here is an example, http://www.provantage.com/acer-lx-rd502 ... CEN16L.htm

As you can actually place an order for this product right now, and as it is listed at so many outlets I can only assume that its release is very near (some outlets claim to be expecting stock by the end of January, take that with a pinch of salt).

The spec is as follows (according to the many websites it is listed on, I took this for the link above).

Product Name AMD Fusion Pro E350/2G/250G/15.6/WIN7
Aspect Ratio 16:9
Product Type Notebook
Cache 1 MB
Display Resolution 1366 x 768
Standard Memory 2 GB
Color Black
Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium
Product Model AS5253-BZ602
Processor Speed 1.60 GHz
Product Line Aspire
Screen Size 15.6"
Screen Mode WXGA
Processor Model E-350
Battery Chemistry Lithium Ion (Li-Ion)
Input Voltage 110 V AC - 220 V AC
Number of Cells 6-cell
Keyboard Yes
Pointing Device Type TouchPad
Standard Warranty 1 Year

Price $ 429

What will be interesting is exactly how this product compares with its peers with regards to the size, battery life, performance and price. AMD are primarily aiming their E-350 Fusion CPU at "entry level" laptops (which this will be competing against), and Netbooks. I suspect that this will be an ideal product for many people who are interested in battery life and media playback over general (read CPU) performance. Awaiting the release of this and similar products (especially netbooks) based on the AMD E-350 APU and the accompanying reviews.

Review of the HP Pavilion dm1z

http://www.notebookreview.com/default.a ... vilion+dm1

FYI for people in the UK that current price (I believe including an instant $100 rebate) works out to whatever you see in the link below.

http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amoun ... USD&To=GBP

Currently thats a bit under £300, which makes it likely to sell in the UK (when it turns up) for £300 - £350, which compared to the competition makes it a good deal.
