Well after reading some great reviews here, I decided to check out QuietMouse, com to check out their line of silent mice. I loved the idea of having a silent mouse, and had read great reviews on their two wired mice, but I didn't know that they were getting ready to release their new Wireless Mice! I thought, Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for, and jumped on the chance to be one of the first people to receive one. Now I was a bit put back by paying $50 for a wireless mouse, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyways. I'm glad I did, as I'm falling in love with this mouse :)

Now when I first received the mouse, the packaging was unlabeled, and very simple, just as the others who have reviewed mice from QuietMouse, com have stated. I am not buying computer parts for their fancy packaging, I buy them for what they do, so this was of no matter to me. Inside the package was the same minimalistic packaging as the exterior. The mouse was not damaged in any way, so I really think more packaging would be unnecessary.

The mouse is a very sharp looking black, with the part your hand touches being a softer, almost rubbery feel, and the rest being a clean, glossy finish. It's not flashy or overdone - which is nice in this day and age - yet it still remains very attractive. The overall appearance is sleek, and modern, but just like a 'little-black-dress' it looks like it'll go well with just about any computer decor. The scroll wheel and the QuietMouse, com logo are white, but they don't stick out in a bad way. The scroll wheel also emits a dull red light from the red laser on the bottom of the mouse - I wouldn't consider it to be bright in any way, but does give off a nice glow with the lights off. It's not exactly one of those things that will stand out like a sore thumb if you have different colored lights on your keyboard. Overall, I really do appreciate the aesthetics this mouse will lend my desktop.

The functionality of the mouse has been great thus far. Both my desktop running Vista, and my laptop running Ubuntu recognized the mouse as soon as I plugged it in, and didn't need to search for drivers or anything. The mouse itself is a bit smaller than my old Windows mouse. It's not as small as a portable mouse for a laptop, but it is slightly smaller than a typical desktop mouse. However, this isn't to say that it's uncomfortable to use. I am 6'4" and 230lbs and I have pretty large hands, and I didn't find the mouse to be uncomfortable at all after using it for 6 hours. The buttons also give a very nice amount of feedback for a silent mouse. I didn't have to guess once whether I had fully clicked or not. It's not audible feedback, but you can feel it in your fingertips when you click. The scroll wheel does sound like some plastic rubbing on plastic, but your ear would have to be within a couple inches of the mouse to hear it at all. The scroll wheel button is also silent. I know this was an issue they had on some of their previous mice, but it seems to have been taken care of very well since those models. Overall, I think the feel and ability of the mouse is excellent.

My impressions are only of the first day of use. So whether this thing falls apart in a couple of weeks, or if I use this mouse until I'm 75, I cannot say. What I can give feedback on is what I have experienced so far, and that has all been positive. For a product that was just released, the mouse is an excellent contender for any large name-brand version. Being said, that is another reason I chose to try out this mouse - the company is young and in the US. I feel much better when my money goes to support entrepreneurs and young companies. The level of service and personality is always so much better than when you deal with some no-faced corporate conglomerate. The mouse also came with a hand written note from the owner thanking me for my purchase, and said he'd always be available for help. When was the last time you got Bill Gates' autograph, and a personal thank-you for buying MS products?? ;)

I just hope that this mouse will hold up the test of time, as after testing it out for 24hrs, I can safely say I have no desire to replace it. I will be using this mouse for as long as it keeps ticking. Only time will tell how long that'll be, but I'll be sure to keep you guys up to date on any future discoveries/mishaps :D

P.S. - I'll also get some pics posted soon, so you guys can check it out for yourselves :)

Thank you
