nForce4 vs nForce4 Ultra

Post by Ropes4u » Mon Jun 27, 2005 4:12 pm

Is the 50.00 smackers worth the few differences? The boards in question are the MSI K8N NEO4-F and K8N NEO4 Platinum.

I will not be overclocking , running raid or more than 2 SATA hard drives.

Thanks, John

I doubt the faster SATA interface will make that much of a difference to you. The only other difference would be that the nForce4 Ultra has a hardware-accelerated firewall, whereas the plain nForce4 depends more on the CPU for its firewall. How much of a difference that would make would depend on how heavily you tax the network interface.

The "Active armour" firewall has always been broken, seems like people won't find much use for it then.

^also many ppl have a firewall built into their router

and this doesn't seem to be much of a silencing issue? therefore it should be in the not silent forum imo?
