Can't get Crystalcpuid or RMclock to work w/DFI NF3-250Gb

Post by GHz » Mon Jul 04, 2005 10:43 am

I've been trying to optimize the power use of my PC via P-State transitions. I have C'n'Q set to AUTO in the BIOS, and ALWAYS ON set in power settings in Windows. Both Crystalcpuid and RMclock appear to change the FID properly (4.0x-9.0x multiplier) but the VID doesn't want to change. Crystal, RMClock, and even AMD's dashboard report VID changes, but all monitoring applications (ITE Smartgaurdian, CPU-Z, Speedfan) say otherwise (they report the default 1.5v). Am I missing something? Why does the multiplier change but not the voltage? The CPU multiplier and voltage are set to AUTO, so I don't know what the problem could be. AMD's C'n'Q driver is installed.

System specs:
===============================
AMD A64 2800+ @ 2.4 GHz, 1.5v (268x9.0)
2x512 OCZ PC3700EB @ 240 MHz (9/10 divider)
DFI Lanparty UT NF3-250Gb
Zalman 7700-CU w/Nexus 120mm
OCZ Powerstream 420W PS
Samsung SP1614C 160GB SATA (Nidec motor)
eVGA 6800GT @ 400/1.0 w/Zalman VF700-CU
===============================

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same problem for a while and it took me forever to get it working. You must have the absolute latest bios (released July 4, 2005), NOT install the AMD driver, set CnQ to Auto, set the CPU and HTT multipliers to Auto, set power options to always on. I have my system running at [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected], (Clawhammer 3200+ DTR mobile CG stepping) in RMclock, and it has been running stable 24/7 for the last 4 days now. If you leave the AMD driver installed, minimum voltage is limited to 1.1V, and I had a few periodic crashes before I figured out that the AMD driver was not needed.

I don't have the latest beta BIOS and still CnQ is working with RMClock. But the rest of the description is quite right. Deinstalling the AMD driver is essential.

Bye egghat.

Well that is good to know. Mine didn't start working until I put on that latest BIOS.
