Can 32GB of 1.35V ram run at 1600MHz on this motherboard?

Building a system that requires 32GB of ram because of the need to run a large number of virtual machines and suspend and resume them immediately.

Because it is powered from a battery that is charged from solar panels, and the cpu is only rated at 45W TDP including the gpu (i7-3770T), any ram type that saves some watts is welcome.

Hence 1.35V LoVo ram is being considered, instead of the standard 1.5V DDR3 1600MHz.

However, someone says 1.35V ram will slow down from 1600MHz to 1333MHz if you put two sticks on the same channel:

Is this true? Is there any overclocking workaround?

32GB in 4 GB sticks of DDR3-1600MHz ram has to be installed on the two-channel-only motherboard below:

Can 1.35V ram run at the full 1600MHz with a little overclocking or whatever on the above motherboard?

It's up to the individual motherboard model, but since it's pretty new I wouldn't expect a problem. The Intel C216 chip set is an unknown to me so I don't know what they may have done there compared to for instance the Z77. Throw Supermicro a question on that specific model. Or perhaps you could use a more standard motherboard instead? No problems using four sticks of 1600MHz 1.35V RAM on a fairly basic Z77 based motherboard here.

Is there any way to find out if your motherboard is running the ram at the full rate of 1600MHz or at 1333MHz?

Information utilities like CPU-Z can show that.

Have you tried that on your Z77 based board and that is how you know your 32GB ram runs at 1600MHz? I'm asking because you said there were no problems, but any slowdown from 1600 to 1333MHz would not be a noticable problem.
