Shuttle XH110V assembly

Post by GrizzlyBear » Fri Jul 08, 2016 11:46 am

I've completed assembly but there's no BIOS display.
(I have i7-6700, 2x DDR3L-1600 (16 gig total), SSD Samsung 850-EVO,
Viewsonic display HDMI, standard KB & mouse)
When Power button hit, blue light comes on, fan comes on, but no BIOS display on monitor.
KB lights displayed only once, briefly.
So am unable to boot an O/S through thumbdrive or any other means.
I hit DEL key and various F-keys but no result.
Please advise.

Missing or unrecognized memory usually causes what you described.

It might not be seated properly or for some finicky reason it may not be compatible with your motherboard.

Try each module on its own in both slots. Perhaps one module is bad.

If that also fails try different memory.

I am the originator of this topic. There's one thing I left out in the original question. When I got to the step "component installation" in the documentation, it says "Install the M.2 card into the M.2 slot and secure with the screw". I don't know what an M.2 card is, and I don't have one. So I bypassed this step.

By way of explanation, I am working with a friend who has assembled a DS61 Shuttle and it was on his recommendation that I chose Shuttle for this new computer. The question on this XH110V model comes from not having to deal with the M.2 card in the earlier Shuttle model. Can you recommend any assembly videos that cover this component a bit more clearly and thoroughly, and is this clearly the reason why there would not be BIOS display on machine start-up?

I do appreciate the advice to check the memory. Specifically, what I am using is
2 X Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 PC3-12800 CL11 - for a total of 16GB.

Thanks.

I found the webpage that shows which processors and memory have been successfully tested in your computer: http://global.shuttle.com/products/prod ... uctId=2007

Sadly, your memory isn't on there.

As for M.2, it's just an accessory slot. It doesn't need to be populated.
