I'm having problems finding ECC memory for these two motherboards that I have my eye on for a possible build:
ASRock AB350 Pro4
QVL memory list:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350%20Pr ... asp#Memory
There's only 3 ECC modules listed (highlighted in red) and I can't find 2 of them anywhere.
Asus TUF X470 Plus
https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards ... US-GAMING/
QVL memory list:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/Soc ... essors.pdf
How do I know which modules in the Asus list are ECC, if any?

Re: AMD AM4 motherboards and ECC memory
I'm not quite as well versed with AMD as I am with Intel, but my understanding is that AMD never formally supported ECC on that platform. I've read some discussions about getting it to work, but seems sketchy.

Kingston is fairly reliable as far as showing you what is compatible (and by omission what is not). In other words, if ECC was a supportable option, they would present their corresponding skus.

Re: AMD AM4 motherboards and ECC memory
It's my understanding that AMD supports ECC memory on all their Ryzen processors by default. (ECC capability is built into the CPU, AMD just doesn't disable it like Intel does for most of their chips). It's up to the motherboard manufacturers if they want to add complementary support for ECC on their boards.
Anyway, I was talking to a friend today and he siad the QVL lists are just a guideline of what's been tested, and that most ECC RAM should work.

Re: AMD AM4 motherboards and ECC memory
Be aware of the single rank/double rank issue with Ryzen memory controller. Only buy single rank (chips only on one side of the DIMM board).

Interesting. On the ASRock QVL it lists the part number
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350%20Pr ... asp#Memory
This part number is dual ranked.
