Microphone suggestions for recording studio?

I am in the process of building a home recording studio and I want to replace my USB microphone with an XLR microphone that can produce high quality sounds for professional-sounding songs. Recording instrumentals is a possibility in the future, but at the moment, I am focused on recording song vocals. My budget is $500, but if there is an amazing microphone out there for $200-400, that would be even better. Seeing as the staff at SPCR have far more experience with this subject than I do, I figured it would be worth asking.
