"view first unread post"

Post by mexell » Mon Dec 08, 2008 9:39 am

That's a function pretty widespread, and it would make things much easier here, at least for me. This forum tends to rather long threads sometimes, which is fine, and old threads also get reactivated sometimes, which is also fine. But even finer would be if I could just click a button which would bring me directly to the first post in a thread which I haven't seen yet. This should be included in phpBB, shouldn't it?

search.php?search_id=newposts

ones with white folders, you've seen.
ones with orange folders have new posts. clicking the arrow takes you to the last unread post.

I just click the shortcut in my toolbar, and start there.

The arrow for the last unread post doesn't work.

I don't mean that - although it's pretty nice to know anyway.

What I mean is a line in the blue bar on top saying "view first unread post" in every thread if it has new posts since my last visit - e.g. a more prominent place for that rather hidden feature. Now that I know it's there, I want the usability to increase :D

vBulletin does it in exactly the way I'm trying to describe.
