Hi,
I am searching in this forum but I am not finding the info I need.
I need to build a system with:
1) (probably) asrock n3150-dc motherboard or another under 10watt DC motherboard
2) one ssd
3) one 2tb hard disk
Which high efficiency power brick do you suggest?
Thanks,
Mario

Re: Suggestion for an external DC power brick
Any 19V laptop adapter you might have lying around is what I would recommend. Efficiency class V if possible.
Re: Suggestion for an external DC power brick
Yes, class V is the brick equivalent of 80+. The specs are out there but I'm not sure what they are.
Pretty much all bricks are going to be Asian and there are plenty of no-name options but I like Dell bricks. Being brand name (with a decent reputation), I'm sure their Asian bricks are put through a pretty rigorous qualification.
You don't want it to break while you are using it and if its plugged in 24-7, you don't want it to catch on fire while you are away.
Dell gives me confidence that it is designed and built right while being relatively inexpensive and available.
I'm sure there are other equally suitable options but that is how I choose.

Re: Suggestion for an external DC power brick
Any news about this topis?
I have AM1H-ITX + AMD 5370 + SSD + 2.5 WD GREEEN 2TB and my wattmeter measures 18 W at the wall (230V) in idle.
As the brick (DELTA ELECTRONICS ADP-90SB BB - 90W - efficiency level III) is quite hot I guess a lot from these 18 W is wasted into heat.
Power conuspton during gaming is about 35W and I would like to add an hot swap bay for 3.5 HDD so there should be some reserve for it so I guess 65W is the target wattage for me.
Do you have any tips?
Preferable with link to ebay, aliexpress etc.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Suggestion for an external DC power brick
To confirm my assumption I bough a DC power meter:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/381396259296
and it really shows around 10.2W in idle. So almost half of the power is wasted in heat
I also found this article (it is in German, but numbers are international
http://www.technikaffe.de/anleitung-243 ... _vergleich
stating that using 12V power supply (72W - so still far under 20% load in idle) the consumtion was 12.6W in idle at wall.
I wonder if DC consumption is lower with lover voltage too.
I guess that I will look for 12-15V 40-50W power supply and give a try...
