I have a Samsung SD-616 DVD-ROM drive in a HTPC in my living room. When you insert a DVD it spins up like its going to take off into space and keeps spinning for at least 2 min. I had heard that this was a quiet drive. I have tried the various DVD/CDD Utilites to lower the read without much success.
Due to the case its in Lian LI PC9300, the SD-616 is tilted slightly backwards, could this be causing it?
Any ideas on how to get it to stop spinning like this or should I buy a new DVD Drive?
Any suggestions on a quiet DVD-ROM or writer?
