HDDScan - drive spins down and immmediately back up again

Post by ams » Sun Jan 18, 2015 5:30 am

Hi,

I am doing some experiments with my HDDs since my case (Silverstone FT02) transmits a lot of vibration to the world.

I have windows 8.1 and the boot drive is an SSD. The second drive is a Seagate 3tb. I unmounted this drive and ran HDDscan to spin down the drive. I can hear it spinning down but then after a second it spins back up again. What is causing this and how can I get it to stop permanently?

Thanks

A.

Welcome to SPCR.

In Win7, I use

Control Panel/Power Options/Change plan settings/change advanced power settings/Hard Disk/Turn off Hard Disk after/Setting : 2 minutes.

I'm sure there's something similar for 8.1.
