Micron 1100 a really good value SSD

Post by Abula » Sat Mar 24, 2018 9:35 pm

I haven't seen much price drops on SSDs lately, but recently the Micron 1100 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5-inch MTFDDAK2T0TBN-1AR1ZABYY pop out and its retailing much lower than most 2tb ssds, by a considerable margin, and for the average user wont be able to tell the difference, really good value SSD.

Yep, that's pretty cheap - $150 less than the Crucial MX500...but still not cheap enough for me to get rid of my last internal rotating drive. :)

I doubt they are "new" drives as claimed, but regardless, the price is good.

Just curious, where would you be saving the downloads/torrenting after removing the last hard drive? I download 2 or 3 movies and series episodes everyweek. I wouldn't be confortable writing gigs and gigs of torrents on my 1TB/2TB ssd so often.

I use a rotating drive for archives and photos (not on Dropbox or Drive) - my only media is my music library and it's 100GB fits pretty well on an SSD.

I finally broke down and ordered one. The $270 deals from rakuten were too good to pass by. I currently have 4TB mechanical drive for my data and have spent this weekend deleting stuff I don't need anymore and moving whatever else I could to the NAS. After all said and done I'm under 2TB now. Even though my 4TB is in a scythe quiet box, it is still making noise that I can hear in the dead of the night. Excited to remove the last spinner from my main desktop :D
