Fanless board Asus a7N8x

Post by terramir » Sun Jan 12, 2003 7:15 pm

For cooling this board is ok.
A heatsink like the zalman on top of the northbridge.
the silent fan technology I haven't seen kick in though but since I'm running a slk-800 with a noiseblocker 2
that was to be expected it's according to the mb monitor running at 4000 rpm which is strange considering it's supposed to run at 2000 rpm I think this is some kind of bios screw up since this thing is not getting louder
oh well well see about that need to get somekind of measurement going.
this thing is great silent wise with no northbridge fan.
a little review from me

So far, Asus has not been able to get the Q-fan stuff working on the A7N8X. Even their latest BIOS has no effect on the fan speed.
Also there are some fairly major difference between the temps detected by the BIOS and that shown by the "Asus Probe" (I love that name) app in Windows.

So, IMO either the Q-fan is non-functional, or the temp reading is so hosed up that it never spins down the fans.
