Hot New Zalman cooler model: very impressive specs!

Zalman/'s new CNPS7000-Cu cooler, a finalist for PC Magazine's "Best of Comdex" award, is about to hit retail, and it sports some pretty flashy numbers. From the Zalman forum:

"2. When do you plan to make it available to purchase in the retail market?
--> The first retail version will be released in mid January in Korea. However, due to the shipping and custom process, it will be available world wide in Feb. 2003.

3. How much will it cost?
--> CNPS7000-AlCu and CNPS7000-Cu are expected to be available at the price of $32 and $47 respectively.

4. Will it be available for AMD processors?
--> As shown at the Lasvegas COMDEX 2002, the first release of CNPS7000 series will be compatible with Intel's socket 478 and AMD's socket 754 platforms. Another version, currently being developed, will work with AMD's socket 462 and should be available in near future.

5. Will the thermal resistance be better than the CNPS6000-Cu?
--> We are very confident that CNPS7000 series will be the world best cpu coolers thanks to their "very low" thermal resistances.

6. Will the noise level be better than the CNPS6000-Cu?
--> The CNPS7000 series will operate in the lower noise level compared to CNPS6000 series (27dB vs 32dB in Normal Mode). In Silent Mode, both of them generate the noise 20dB equally. You can expect "the better performance, at lower noise level".

It has a very interesting design, with the fan nested within the radial cooling fins:

The full-copper version, not surprisingly, blows Intel's weight limits for heatsinks right out the window, caving in the scales at 775 g (yikes!). Clearly not the cooler for LAN party PCs...

Anyway, a definite review candidate. Big question: does it warp your mobo so badly it starts misbehaving?

I wonder how easy it'd be to swap that fan out, if it proves to be on par with current Zalman fans...

Other than that, it looks like yet another interesting design from Zalman. Looking forward to reading the reviews about it once it becomes available...
