Zalman Flower Cooler Fan Replacement-Suggestions?

Post by spudston » Fri Jan 31, 2003 6:30 pm

I have the Zalman CNPS3100+ copper flower CPU cooler and I've heard that there are quieter fans available. I have the stock one set to 2050 RPM using a Fan Mate controller and the noise level is OK but not as low as I'd like. My temps are 55C under load (which is allways) and I have an 80mm exhaust fan also. The Zalman fan is a 92mm and with the bracket attached to the PCI slot screws I guess I can use just about any fan. What would be a good replacement?

Thanks, 'spud

a decent 120x120x25mm fan is a good replacement,

personally I am using the Papst 4412FGL with the Zalman 6500B-AlCu,

4412FGL specs at 12v,
55.3cfm,
26dB(A),
1600rpm,
Voltage range 7-14 volts DC,
1.25 Watts,
Sintec-sleeve Bearing,

I've got the Zalman cooler too as was thinking about replacing the fan. Favourites at the moment are the 92mm Panaflo L, Papst or the Noiseblocker. But the more I read, the more confused I get :?

Then there's the issue of cost/UK availability.

Seems like the Papst may be quieter than the Panaflo, but some report a 'clicking' noise, whilst others say they never have any problems. The Noiseblocker from Germany appears to be as quiet as the Papst and is available from http://shop.rascom.at/catalog/product_i ... 4c835d8f02

Best solution would be to have the chance to test these in YOUR system to compare...ask your retailer nicely :)

I would vote for the PC Power and Cooling 92mm Silencer.
Much better that the Zalman, supposedly better than the Papst and Panaflo 92's
