I recently saw a thread of interest on the candlepowerforums.com board, which consists of flashlight enthusiasts. (LED flashlights are another of my geeky interests, and share the common issues of overdriving(clocking) and cooling with the PC world.) In this thread a particularly experienced member goes through the complete picture of estimating thermal resistance and using this information to plan a system. Remember, in this context "system" refers to the components of a high end flashlight, but the concepts should transfer very nicely to the computer world. Here's the link:
