Blast from the past CPU Cooler

Post by qualdoth » Mon Jan 27, 2014 9:17 pm

I was doing some cleaning of some old hardware I've got laying around and came across this bad boy. This is actually just some of the leftover parts for it as the cooler itself is sitting in my HTPC. I thought some of you folks might get a kick out of now nearly ancient cooler ;)

Anyone else got old cooling bits laying around? Mods, please feel free to another section that's more suitable. I dropped it in here as it is a CPU Cooler :)

Actually they do run pretty good without a fan attached. My dad used to have a Thermaltake Blue Orb II in his PC, cooling his Core 2 Duo E4600. Looks like this, but with the fan removed: http://oi50.tinypic.com/4k8y0l.jpg

Had it in a TJ08-E, with the front 180mm fan removed (used elsewhere), but with the PSU fan facing downwards helping ever so slightly to exhaust warm air. CPU temps stayed below 50 degrees in Prime95, in ~25 degrees C ambient. Not bad.

It would almost look too good to be true but, as usual: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy"...
