Cpu fan for my am2 setup

Post by DavetheChamp » Thu May 12, 2016 9:28 am

The cpu fan I have now is too loud. I want the quietest possible for 100-150 canadian.

My cpu is 4 and a half inches from the case side.

I think my ram is pretty low profile but I'd like to use this new fan in my next build with taller memory so I'd like something that doesn't block my ram slots.

id like variable speeds.

also my next build will be skylake. 1151

Could we perhaps have some more info?

Which CPU? What CPU cooler do you have currently? What motherboard are you using? Do you currently use a DC or PWM fan? 4.5 inches from which case side? An exact measurement in mm would be required to get the optimum heatsink. What case do you have? How are your system fans laid out? Can we see a picture perhaps?

The quietest coolers use 120/140mm fans, but 4.5 inches is about 112mm, which means you'll need to use a down-blowing cooler, which really limits your options if you want to use memory with tall heatsinks.

I think your best bet will be to get an all-in-one liquid cooler with a quiet pump and replace the stock fans with Noctuas.

Does your case have a 120mm or 140mm case fan slot available for a radiator? If not you might need a new case.
