Hello,
My name is Carlos and I live in Barcelona, Spain. For a long time reading the forum and now I have decided to write to solve some doubts.
I need the best air cooling for i7 4790k 4,6GHz, my case is a SilverStone FT05 and have 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast.
I've thought of the Scythe Ninja 4, but don't know if memory heatsinks enter without any problem. Another option would be the Noctua NH-D15 with a fan or some Thermalright.
What option would you recommend me?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my English.
Best cooler for i7 4790K performance/noise

No, it won't fit.
Either a single, slim tower, or some asymmetrical design (like the Noctua NH-D15S or the Silver Arrow ITX, you need to check) should clear your... "beasts" (what about gently removing those heatspreaders)?c4l4o wrote:What option would you recommend me?

According to SilverStone the maximum CPU cooler height for the FT05 is 162mm which would rule out coolers such as the Noctua NH-D15/Noctua NH-D15S which would be too tall.
There was a build by SPCR in the Silverstone FT05 case, and this page shows the coolers that were considered. They were Scythe Kotetsu, Scythe Mugen Max, Be Quiet! Shadow Rock Slim and Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo. Your memory modules are 43mm high so some of these coolers might be more suitable than others. The Mugen Max for example has a design that should minimize conflict with memory modules. It has 120mm fan fittings so at worst a smaller fan could be substituted.

Though I think it's preferable to check measures/clearance not on the sole basis of declared specs.lodestar wrote:According to SilverStone the maximum CPU cooler height for the FT05 is 162mm which would rule out coolers such as the Noctua NH-D15/Noctua NH-D15S which would be too tall.
Said that, any asymmetrical design, like the adviced Mugen Max or even the various Machos, should be checked.
