120 Volt 120mm fan recommendation needed

Post by jm2 » Sun Dec 01, 2013 6:15 pm

I have an HP6448B power supply, and it has a very noisy fan. This power supply is normally used in electrical work, but I want to use it to power field coil speakers, and thus I need a very quiet fan. The fan in there now is a 120 Volt 120mm, but all of the "whisper quiet" fans I am finding in google searches are 12 volt. I would be extremely grateful if someone could point me to a company that might have extremely quiet equipment fans that run on 120 volt.

After doing some deeper reading here, I think I found the right fan. The Sunon model DP200A-2123XST.GN appears to be the go to AC fan. It's actually a 220V, but runs extra quiet on 120V. The best part is that it's available at Digikey, and I was getting an order ready anyway. Comments are still welcome, and I appreciate the expertise of those who have taken the time to experiment and make this information available.
