Slim 80mm fans?

Post by UK_Peter » Sun Aug 31, 2014 6:57 am

Can anyone recommend a slim 80mm fan that will run quietly when undervolted and still shift some CFM?

The fans will be mounted horizontally (air blowing bottom to top of case). Normally I'd reach straight for a Noctua, but they don't have anything that thin.

The case is similar to the Lone Industries L1 with a side cutout over the Scythe Big Shuriken Rev 2 b's fan, and I want the 80mm fans to help move air through the case. The L1 will take two 80x25mm fans at the top, whereas I want to try thin 80mm fans at top and bottom as I'm not a fan of negative pressure - or reduce the height of the case further if in/out fans are not needed.

Have a look at

I'd recommend to try one of the Noiseblockers. But all 80mm fan will move next to nothing if undervolted. YMMV.

Thanks - I am hoping that what little it shifts will be better than the 50-54mm fan on the new Gigabyte low profile GTX 750, and the noise also more pleasant.
