Most silent 140 fans for radiator (especially bearing noise)

Post by boxleitnerb » Wed May 20, 2015 2:32 pm

Hi guys,

I had the "pleasure" of using 20-25 Noiseblocker Black Silent Pro PK1 and PK2 over the last 6-7 years and I've had enough. A seizable amount of these fans exhibit bearing noise like rattling. I exchanged all 9 fans two times and the problem just doesn't go away so I want to look elsewhere.

What 140mm fans have the least bearing noise and run really silent at 5V? I'm looking for something in the 500-700 rpm range, they won't have to go full throttle on my large external radiator (push configuration).

Thanks!

Subjective assessments are not easy to share: said that, my preference goes to fans like Noctua P14, Prolimatech Vortex, Thermalright X-Silent 140. There's also the Antec TruQuiet 140 but I can't say how good could be pushing against a radiator (as well as the BeQuiet Shadow Wings/Silent Wings 2).
