Quick tip on Nexus 120mm fans

Post by Darth Santa Fe » Thu Apr 14, 2016 7:15 pm

It's been reported before that the Nexus 120mm fan doesn't work especially well blowing air upward, and I've found an easy way to solve this! If the fan will only be used for upward airflow, such as in the top of a case, first remove the blades from the fan (there's a small snap ring in back). Press the ring magnet the rest of the way into the blade's center hub, and then reassemble the fan. Performance in the standard and downward positions may be reduced, but it should now have perfect performance for upward airflow! This will also reduce wear and noise from the bearing when running in this position, helping it to stay quieter for longer.
