More popular than ever, but some are still very noisy.

I had a Toshiba portege r835-p56x, this laptop is good but the fan noise is annoying, I end up returning it.
If it is silent it would be perfect.

Any recommendation for laptop with similar size, weight and performance but silent ?

Dell makes a Atom (AKA slow) laptop that has no fan. If you buy it with a SSD, then it is usually completely silent. I think it is the Dell Mini10. You can also buy a used Dell Mini 8, but they have been discontinued.

The ThinkPad T and R series computers are on the quiet side, but that usually means 28-33 decibels. Notebookcheck has lots of reviews, but they are not done in a consistent manner, and it gets hard to evaluate noise levels at or under 30 decibels.
