I literally says it's the Arctic Cooling Acelero Xtreme Plus for the Galaxy (and KFA2) on the product information sheets. So I doubt its not it. What could be the case (ive read that on another forum) is that the rpm and afterburner % dont match (ie 20% is higher rpm than the seperate cooler would run). But ill check, will have the card end of the week.

Mounted the 570 (msi TFIII OC), and I'm pleased. 40° in idle and the noise is definitely less then the old gtx280.
With the new SB setup that i'll do in august, it may become the noisier component and i'll try to mod the fans to 30% min but for now is ok.

This is an older thread, but always check out the TechPowerUp reviews as they have very good sound measurements using a standard methodology (so their results are comparable to each other).

ASUS GeForce GTX 560 TOP Direct Cu II = 26/31 dBA
ASUS GeForce GTX 570 Direct CU II = 28/31 dBA
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Twin Frozr II OC = 28/44 dBA
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II = 25/39 dBA

I'd say that Asus is quite near amongst the less noisy ones out of GTX 560 with standard clocks.

The AC Accelero models from others are likely to be at similar level or even less noisy.

Because it runs very cool my 570 TF3 fans never go above 60% and therefore are very quiet.

I keep saying this: the Asus Direct Cu's are overrated. the dba's might be low in tests but the sound is horrible. Our ears are not robotic parts: we have high squeeling sounds and are much more tolerant to a lower wooshing sound. It's not a bout a numer, it is about a pc being comfortable to the ears.

The AC Accelereo will be much quieter (based on reviews and my personal experience with a 580GTX).

I agree with this statement, just bought a Galaxy GTX580, and by far the best video card i tried, from factory comes with 30% on the fans (900rpm), with 4 hours sc2 gaming the max it reached was 60C, the fans can be controlled with MSI after burner, but in my case cant go lower than 30%. I think the Artic cooling solution is the way to go for a GTX570/GTX580. Atm you can get the galaxy around $450, already comes with artic cooling and a nice backplate.

Here a pic of my 4 hours sc2.

You don't even need the 30% fanspeed. I've modded the bios and my afterburner fan% never goes over 15%. the cooler is crazy good.

I have sparkle GTX 580. Sparkle and galaxy have same coolers. (artic cooling) However, both sparkle and galaxy fans are LOUDER than the ones sold directly FROM arctic cooling. (accelero extreme plus) To remedy this, I have replaced the fan that was on sparkle 580 WITH stock accelero extreme plus and voila.... Sound is almost entirely gone fron my videocard. With stock sparkle card I could still very well hear it in my chassis even at lowest setting (40%).

So at what fanspeed does it run now?
