Bluetooth or wireless keyboard with trackpad for Smart TV
Hi,
We got a Vizio M401i-A3 Smart TV for Christmas, and the major lack is there is no QWERTY keyboard remote available, and hunt and click is a pain. I'd like to get a wireless keyboard, and I'm leaning toward the Logitech K400, which uses a USB receiver. Is there a good Bluetooth keyboard that works reliably with a Smart TV, and/or is there a solar powered keyboard available?
It might be helpful to have trackpad (like the K400) but this may not be all that useful, since typing letters avoids the need to navigate the cursor.

Re: Bluetooth or wireless keyboard with trackpad for Smart T
I have a K400 on HTPC and been running fine, but to a PC not a smart tv directly.
I dont know a bluetooth solar, but there is a solar with usb wireless similar to the k400, Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750.

I've been using a K400r for a while to drive a MacBook connected to my TV. The keyboard is fine, the trackpad is crap. A lot of unintentional double taps and then other times when it doesn't recognize any pressure at all.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I have the Mac version of the K750 - I'll try that and see if it works. I like the solar charging, as the batteries are supposed to last about 3 months without any light, and it can charge on artificial light.

The Mac version of the K750 worked for numbers and letters, but not for the space bar, for whatever reason. That is with zero setup, and just plugging the unified receiver into the USB port on the back of the Vizio TV.
Enough evidence for me to go buy the Windows version...

I am bummed - the Windows version also does not work for the spacebar ... The only K400r in the store was an open box. Does the spacebar work on yours Steve?

Spacebar works when "talking" with my MacBook. Haven't tried pairing it with my Samsung TV.
I did find this at Amazon.

Maybe it'll work with newer sets?

Re: Bluetooth or wireless keyboard with trackpad for Smart T
I looked for this first, and I asked Vizio customer support, and they specifically said that none of their remotes with a QWERTY keyboard necessarily worked with the model I have. Which is just silly. They have umpteen remotes that seem to be for 4 -7 different models of TV, but none for mine.
I can get a space with a couple of down arrows and an Enter, than a couple of up arrows and continue typing - far better than hunt and click.

I got the K400 as well,

I like having the touch pad out of the way, no accidental swipes.
No real reason the top row of keys is so short, no harm either.
I really like using VLC Player on the PC, quite an assortment of deinterlacers,
the default one is crap.

Aris, does the space bar on the K400 work in your YouTube client?

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. My system and the K400 are miles apart at this time, but they will reunite March 1st. I'm not 100% sure what you mean, ie does the space bar act as a pause button?NeilBlanchard wrote:Aris, does the space bar on the K400 work in your YouTube client?
