Reeven Justice: will it be reviewed by SPCR?
Reeven, the gaming brand/division of Scythe, released its new tower cooler, named the Justice.
Seemingly a beefed-up Kotetsu, on [H] it just performed admirably well: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016/07/ ... 44ILKLLLF9
Will it worth an SPCR review? I hope so.

It has two additional pairs of heatpipes - a 50% increase. It is 2mm taller (which may not matter), at 162mm vs 160mm.
Very interesting, and it may well come down to the quality of the base and the mounting hardware.

Seems very interesting, specially because of the price, @ $40 if it performs that well, it should be recommended over the Kotetsu and Ninja4 around $48 offerings.

Well, I didn't want to wait for Mike and Lawrence (if ever, I doubt), so I imported (it's not sold here) one sample last october, and this weekend I did some brief testing.Abula wrote:Seems very interesting, specially because of the price, @ $40 if it performs that well, it should be recommended over the Kotetsu and Ninja4 around $48 offerings.
Given the (obvious) repeatability and reproducibility limits, I leave here just the raw results, not my judgements/assessments/feelings (it's not a user review).

Nice. How would you compare fan sound quality over the 275-1060rpm range?

Well, Steve, the yellow fan cannot go that low, actually it spins ~380rpm -> ~1590rpm driven by PWM (it may go down to ~290rpm driven by voltage): I did the temperature testing with my reference fans (reference but not favourites), the Noctua iPPC 3000 PWM.
Subjectively it's about comparable to the Glidestream PWM of the Kotetsu: some less ticking, same vibrations level, maybe a touch rougher over 600rpm (or tonally pitched lower than the Scythe sibling)... its only real drawback seems to be the presence of an odd pulsating hum above 750rpm, but unfortunately I didn't investigate further about that, because it's really horribly looking (IMO, of course): just another time I got such a feeling, dealing with a Noctua S12B.

Re: Reeven Justice: will it be reviewed by SPCR?
Using a reference fan for the test is a critical piece of information. Without knowing this, we'd just assume you used the stock fans.

As I learned from SPCR, a reference fan is somehow a need: how can you measure anything if there is no prototype metre bar?
The iPPC 3000s are enough flexible (200-3000!), enough "silent" (ahem...), enough powerful, so after I ditched my watercooling station I recycled them as benching reference.
In this case because to test the Justice I just put it in service on a rig of mines... and somewhat surprisingly got no improvements: so, to further investigate my concerns, I put on this session.
BTW, in this specific case using the Glidestream (Kotetsu), the Slipstream SC (Ninja 4), or the yellow fan (Justice) as a reference should give comparable results (NOT comparable to the iPPC ones, I mean among each other), 'cause all the three fans should be rather close (but I'll check it out next weekend).
Re: Reeven Justice: will it be reviewed by SPCR?
Very detailed testing Luca! Looks like the Ninja 4 just wins although the differences are small enough that most users would not notice.
Re: Reeven Justice: will it be reviewed by SPCR?
It's also a nice dive into how much metal do you need vs rpm for i5 vs i7 and OC levels.
