Eco PC Review (a sister site of SPCR) will examine all the ways in which environmentalism applies to computing. EPCR will have a proactive, user-centric, and practical focus on the ways that the environmental impact of computer proliferation and usage can be minimized. We aim to establish a leadership position in providing environmental information about computers relevant to both individuals and enterprises.

We seek exceptional people to fill the following positions:

1. Assistant Editor

Help manage and produce content for publication. The ideal candidate will be able to assist in making the site more dynamic, interactive, and relevant, and play a role in maintenance and development. Responsibilities include writing core articles; reviewing and posting proprietary articles, graphics, tables and third party news and information; monitoring wire services for breaking news and article updates; and production and distribution of related e-mail.

Must be detail oriented and deadlines driven. Understanding of relevant Web authoring software and tools is a plus. Degree in journalism or communications with prior publishing experience in a related field is ideal.

  • Excellent writing and editing, basic HTML, and communication skills
  • Strong interest and good basic knowledge in computers and electronics, and environmental issues.
  • Organized, creative, self-motivated, self-disciplined.
  • Honest, trustworthy, with bonafide references.
  • Ideally, live in Vancouver or within reasonable travel time to QE Park, which is near the SPCR/EPCR lab. Well qualified distance workers will also be given serious consideration.

This is a key position with room to grow, limited only by EPCR’s own success.

2. Writer (Online or Local)

Produce content for publication. The ideal candidate will conduct research and interviews to write articles (in html) on relevant topics, and take responsibility for images and graphics as well as data charts and tables. Must be detail oriented and deadlines driven.

  • Excellent writing, basic HTML, and communication skills
  • Strong interest in computers, electronics, and environmental issues.
  • Organized, creative, self-motivated, self-disciplined.
  • Honest, trustworthy, with bonafide references.

This is position open to qualified candidates anywhere in the world.

3. Hardware Reviewers

  • Strong interest and good basic knowledge in computers (especially hardware) and electronics.
  • Good understanding and respect for "the scientific method". IE, controlled conditions for experiments, repeatability, double-checking of results, complete documentation.
  • Desire to experiment and learn (both hands-on and through extensive reading) about environmentalism and computers.
  • Strong writing skills and good communication skills in general; journalism and/or computer engineering experience and aspirations are welcome.
  • Organized, self-motivated, disciplined.
  • Honest, trustworthy, with bonafide references.
  • Ideally, live in Vancouver or within reasonable travel time to QE Park, which is near the SPCR/EPCR lab. Well qualified distance workers will also be given serious consideration.
